Frequently asked questions
How does the recipe nutrition calculator work?
You add each ingredient and its quantity. SmartNutrition converts every quantity to grams, multiplies it by that ingredient’s stored nutrition values per 100 g, and adds everything together. The recipe total is then divided by your number of servings to give per-serving values.
Can I calculate nutrition for homemade meals?
Yes. The calculator is designed for home cooking: curries, salads, baked goods, smoothies, meal-prep bowls and more. Add each ingredient as you use it and set the number of servings the recipe makes.
Are the calorie results exact?
No. Results are estimates. Values come from average reference data for each ingredient, and real foods vary by brand, variety, ripeness and cooking method. Cup, spoon and piece measurements are converted using average weights, so weighing ingredients in grams gives the most reliable result.
How do I calculate nutrition per serving?
Enter how many servings the recipe makes. SmartNutrition divides the complete recipe totals by that number. You can change the serving count after calculating and the per-serving figures update instantly, while the recipe totals stay the same.
Can I add my own ingredients?
Yes. Choose Add custom ingredient and enter the values per 100 g from the product’s nutrition label. Custom ingredients are saved in your browser on this device only.
Does the calculator include protein, carbs, and fat?
Yes. Every report shows protein, carbohydrates and fat, plus calories, fiber, sugar, saturated fat and sodium, for the whole recipe and per serving, along with a macro split based on the calories from each macronutrient.
Is SmartNutrition free to use?
Yes. SmartNutrition is completely free to use, and you don’t need to create an account or sign in.
